Marty Creel has 29 years in Fire and EMS. He began his career as a volunteer at Redwood Valley Fire Department and worked for private ambulances in very busy areas. He became a paid firefighter at South Lake Tahoe which he retired from in 2016. While working at South Lake Tahoe Fire he was a captain and charged with working in EMS JPA with Lake Valley Fire District. He served as the Fire Chief and Paramedic of Downieville Fire Protection District, one of the oldest Fire Volunteer Departments west of the Mississippi. He left Downieville in 2021. He is currently the Fire Chief of Sutter Basin Fire Protection District and the Executive Director of CSFA and CFRST. Marty has a degree in Fire Science and CFO Certification through California State Fire Training. He has also worked as an adjunct faculty member at multiple community colleges teaching fire science and EMS courses for 10 years.
