Eddie Sell began his career in public service over 30 years ago when he became a volunteer firefighter in Riverside County, CA, and served as an explorer for the Los Angeles Fire Department. He entered the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served as an Admiral’s Chef. He went on to work for several fire service organizations including Bureau of Land Management, several units of Cal Fire, Long Beach, CA, Fire Department, and now proudly serves as the fire chief/agency director for Hemet, CA, Fire and Life Safety Agency. Sell created a new public safety agency that includes the fire department, building and safety, code enforcement, and fire prevention under one agency. Over his career, Sell has held the ranks of firefighter, firefighter/paramedic, engineer, captain, battalion chief, and fire chief. He volunteers as the president of the California State Firefighters’ Association (CSFA), a 100-plus year-old trade association that’s committed to serving the entire California fire service and serves as the president of the California First Responder’s Support Team, a 501c3 that raises funds to assist the fire and EMS service. At CFSA, he has led an organizational transformation, created new engaged committees, and has increased collaboration with local, state and federal organizations. Sell also served as a director for the Long Beach Firefighters Association, Local 372. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, is an EMT-P, a Certified Chief Fire Officer, Company Officer, Incident Management Team Operations Section Chief and holds numerous certifications in All Risk categories, speaks Spanish fluently, and holds a Culinary School Certificate from the U.S. Navy. Sell serves on FIRESCOPE, California Fire Leadership Committee, First Responder Center for Excellence’s Cardiac Committee, Riverside County, CA, Fire Chief’s Association, and the National Volunteer Fire Council. Sell is a small business owner, author, mentor, and entrepreneur.
